Hello all you DIYers!
Have you ever wondered why we spend so much money buying furniture pieces either online or thru local retailers? I often think about this dilemma. Is it that we are in a rush and want that thing now or, we just can’t imagine there’s any other choice? Today, I’ll show you how to build a custom coffee table for less than $50! And yes, with no special carpentry skills or wood working expertise. All it takes is a little creativity and a power drill helps too, ha ha!
Tools and supplies you will need
Using a power drill is fun but a screw driver will do the trick too
A measuring tape
1 pre-fab and sanded pine 18″ round disc (found at Lowe’s)
3 hairpin metal black legs (found at Lowe’s)
How to assemble the coffee table in 4 easy steps
Since I already had a super cool wooden tray… note: always shop your own home first as you never know what unique item you will find that will help you build your custom furniture creation! Because this tray is 24″ round and I didn’t want a huge coffee table so it worked out perfectly.
1. Layout your supplies
2. When adding 3 legs to the round wood disc, measure out an equilateral triangle on the back of the disc for balanced leg placement. (that means a triangle with all sides being equal distance)
3. Screw the legs in place with either a screwdriver or power drill.
4. Place the 24″ round wood tray on top of the 18″ round disc and you have the perfect sturdy platform!
How to build a custom coffee table for under $50!
What an easy project after finding my treasured tray and because I knew it could work as a coffee table. All it takes is just a little thinking out of the box! And the added benefit is this tray has substantial weight, which keeps it sitting solidly in place. But if the tray needs to move, I just simply lift it off the base and wall-la!
